While my girlfriend and I were trying to find a nice place to relax while her father was watching his soccer game we stopped to rest our bags and found this beautiful hole in the wall. The food is all fresh aswell as the pastries, the staff is friendly very family run which is always nice to see. The sandwiches were mouth wateringly good. And the juice is definitely fresh squeezed. I recommend people come here to get a sandwich anytime you're close by!
yum 😊 turkey apple cheddar sub is great
Original Sandwich Shoppe
$8.50 for "cheese sandwich" - cheese is extra charge"mama's fried breaded chicken" - awful precooked chicken, like you get at a bad bodegaSTOP LYINGcan't even keep the name straight - is it tossed or original sandwich shoppe?AWFUL FOOD
I was very hungry during lunch time and decided to stop here after hearing good things about this sandwich shoppe. The place is small. There were 4 people ordering on line and it already felt crowed but I'm so glad I stayed. I ordered the Italian sub and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade house vinaigrette was the cherry on top. They serve breakfast all day and have a nice selection of sandwiches and wraps with a juice bar for healthier drinks. Nice place to get a quick bite to eat and stay full for a while
Very fresh sandwiches and friendly staff.
Fantastic.... Best sandwich I've had in NYC
Every weekend, without fail, Mamas fried breaded chicken sandwhich with their herbaly mayo and onions. NEVER gets old. Love this place!
I ordered #13 on ciabatta bread. Delicious and delightful sandwich. Service was fast. Cant go wrong for a quick bite. I have an appreciation for the good ol' mom and pop shoppes. I'd come back and highly recommend!
We stopped in after looking everywhere for a place to eat before our show and basically stumbling on this place. I'm SO glad that we did. The sandwich maker has a booming, friendly voice and a mastery over his ingredients and sandwich making. My husband and I both ordered sandwiches and my cousin ordered a salad. We watched as he carefully constructed our sandwiches with fresh ingredients and with love from someone who truly enjoys his job. The food was excellent and fairly priced and we would most definitely return for more.
Have had their sandwiches 4-5 times and all were great. Came here the first time within days of moving to NYC and the owner was greatly hospitable. Get the #1 or #2, or take a buddy and go halves on both.
Freshest ingredients! Warm, caring owners. Excellent location. I have become a regular!
I've been hitting this place up forever. I usually get the pastrami sandwich and hold the mayo and tomato. I've had the "mama's fried chicken" too; that one's really good. I really dig their soup. I used to always come here when I lived in the neighborhood. Not much has changed with this place....that's good.
This is one of the best sandwich places in all of New York City. Try the #1 to start (roasted turkey fresh daily!) and then run down the menu for amazing sandwiches on homemade bread with good service.
Love that it's a small business, has fantastic bread and wraps, and is reasonably priced. I got white tuna in a tomato basil wrap. WHEW it was so filling and delicious. Their homemade mayo is the bomb.
Best 🦃 sandwich in NYC
The Original Sandwich Shoppe is an amazing place. I go there everyday for lunch. Great variety of sandwiches. The mango lemonade is delicious. Definitely a must try when you are in the neighborhood.
I think that this is the best sandwich shop in New York. The pulled turkey is full of flavor. Try it with the herbal mayo.
Best turkey sandwich in all the land (Elena’s). If you don’t get the pesto mayo then you’re doing it wrong
Although the place is a bit small, the food is really good. I usually get a turkey sandwich and the staff always make it with lots of love. I also like the variety of food they offer. They retail their food at extremely reasonable prizes.
OG spot in the village. Best sandwich in the city. You won't regret coming here.
Classic. Delicious. NYC at its finest. You know its good when the FDNY and NYPD eat there. They got options and know every place in the city. Get the roasted turkey with herb mayo!
No muss or fuss, just a great sandwich hole in the wall.
11 bucks for a small sandwich total rip-off
Tasty sandwich. Friendly people
Complete rip off. They try to claim that bacon is expensive. Bacon which is hard to chew.
Place is small and very uncomfortable. Sandwiches are expensive, hardly any food between the slices of bread . Great place if you’re on a diet.
I got a Cuban because I saw positive reviews about them...It was literally a ham sandwich with pickles. I’m not sure if they ran out of the roast pork but it’s not acceptable to charge someone $10+ for something that is advertised differently. I live around the corner and will not be back.
The best sandwiches. Don't forget to add the herbal mayo and pickled red onions. I usually get an Arnold Palmer from behind the counter, too. Great brownies.
Great sandwiches! Love the hot apple cider!
Love these sandwiches. Homemade yummy goodness
Got the chicken parmigiana sandwich, and the chicken was overcooked and rubbery. Gross
Great nyc cafe spot to chill at aline or with company! Risks got really good sandwiches !
One of the staff members behind the counter preparing sandwiches was not wearing a mask when I most recently visited. The gentleman was jeopardizing the health of every customer eating food from the sandwich shoppe. Is commercial preparation of food by staff who aren't wearing masks even legal?I had previously ordered two sandwiches online and paid for them in full using my debit card. But the restaurant refused to make me my sandwiches. They insist that they didn't receive my money, even though I showed them two written records of my payment.I'm $25 poorer with no sandwiches to show for it. The store's attitude is hard to fathom since I've been a loyal customer for years; it's inconceivable that they could suspect me of some sort of malfeasance. I intend to complain to the Better Business Bureau. But the issue of preparing food without wearing a mask is far more serious than the apparent theft of my $25 and is a bit shocking.
Delicious, hearty, satisfying sandwiches with a wide selection. Recommend for a quick sandwich stop.
Best sandwiches in the city, hands down. Do yourself a favor and order a cuban. Great to sit in or dine out!
It's ok. The bread was a bit stale and scratched the roof of my mouth. But the sandwich maker was nice and polite.
Thank you!! Best staff
I shared 2 hero's, the cold one was great but the hot one wasn't so, you could tell that the chicken had just been reheated. The place could also do with a bit of a tidy up and paint.
I've got Italian #6 and I can say it would be in top 5 of the best Italian sandwiches I ever tasted. Good job guys 👏👍
Glorious place with a long history. Go cuban or go home. Herbal mayo excellent
Friendly people, great sandwiches
Nothing special, coffee is disgusting.
Soo good, fresh turkey sandwich is insane.
Good customer service and the manager or owner was very friendly! The sandwiches were good. We ordered 10 sandwiches for takeout and they had them ready for us on time.
I went to Original Sandwich Shoppe looking to get a Chicken Parm sandwich. I didn't have high hopes, but when it came out, it exceeded all expectations and was actually one of the best I've had in the city.
Perfect NYC sandwich shop, hands down. You want a homemade Arnold Palmer and pastrami on rye? You got it. Cuban sandwich? The best in town. You're welcome, rest of the world.
Got a Cuban based on some reviews but found out the hard way. All i got was basically a glorified ham sandwich with mayo and pickles, bread was toasted with the bottom burnt and everything else including the $3 bacon strip was severely microwaved and chewbaca approved. Still trying to figure out how the heck i paid $16 for a friggin ham sandwich that i could have gotten for $3.Oh also you cannot place any orders on their website - got a security code error for every payment method and to add insult to injury CC and DC are not accepted at this location... only cash green green money. I got - got this time but never again Original Sandwich Shoppe.
Lots of regulars and me. They were patient and efficient and the 2A sandwich (smoked turkey, cheddar, and green apple) is DELICIOUS.
One of the Best sandwich game in the city. I've never had a bad one from here. Their homemade mayo is everything. Great staff. I'm not a vegetarian but I think the veggie sandwich is my favorite. There are places to eat or the sandwich is just as good to go. And the prices are fair.
